As a lifelong Washingtonian and DC sports fan, I’m sad to see head coach, Barry Trotz, who brought 2 Presidents’ Trophies, 4-straight 100 point seasons, 205 wins, and the franchise’s first Stanley Cup to DC move on.That being said, coach left us with some words of wisdom:
“I haven’t known anybody to win a Stanley Cup by themselves”… “If you want to go somewhere far, go with a group”.
No one person got the Washington Capitals to the point of winning their first championship in 44 years. It was a total team effort both on and off the ice. This is relevant not just in sports, but any organization or business. To succeed, you need good leadership from the top down, and buy-in from everyone involved.
