[:20] Shutdown conversation is a dysfunctional communication style. They are a force for negative possibility. Instead be a force for positive possibility where you formulate solutions.
[1:43] According to recent research it takes 4 positive experiences on average to counter a negative one.
[3:10] We tend to focus on the negative more than the positive.
[4:00] Motivationally speaking people would rather avoid pain than gain pleasure.
[4:36] Risk Aversion. “Life or death” – Survival.
[5:30] Correlation and statistics between positivity and performance in teams.
[6:15] We have about 50,000 thoughts a day, and more than 70% of them are negative.
[7:10] Managing this stress is important. We must turn to tool like yoga, meditation, and journaling.
[7:18] We need to do our best to raise our vibration. We must choose our higher / better / more positive thoughts.
[8:20] Must be self-aware of our emotions, and recognize when we’re veering onto the “rumble strip”. We are responsible for our thinking, feeling, and response.
[10:04] There are things that come naturally to people, some are more positive. We have to work on it though, it’s a choice in every moment.
[10:30] Some people don’t feel comfortable going to their managers. As a manager and leader of an organization, how can you cultivate a positive organizational culture?
